Reconnect

Gosh! I haven't posted for so long I feel like I have to start from the beginning all over again. I have been on a hiatus these past couple of weeks and been pretty preoccupied with a lot of things. However, being out for so long means I also have a lot of material to write about (I hope). Anyways, I hope to make sure to keep to my schedule and be able to post as often as I possibly can, what with classes coming up (law school here I come o_0) and overseeing my younger sibling in their own classes as well. I hope and I pray that everything will work out in the end.
How about you guys? Have you ever been on a hiatus from things you regularly do?

Sweet Saturday #1: A Magnum Experience

Legally Kikay
After going through a lot of hassle just to get it, I finally have in my hands one of the most recently talked about ice cream on the market: the new Magnum ice cream from Selecta. Ever since I decided to create the Sweet Saturday meme, I already had in mind that Magnum ice cream would be my first post.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get my hands on it immediately because the stores near my house were all sold out! That’s how popular it is. This of course made me want it even more and the frustration of not being able to taste it grew.
The first chance I got to visit a large supermarket I immediately went to the ice cream counter to find my goal. Sure enough, there it was. My first impression was that it looked decadent, like it would be a luxurious experience to eat something like it. Hat’s off to the people and the brains behind the packaging. There are actually three flavors; classic, almond and chocolate truffle. I wanted to try the almond but there was none so I went with my next choice—classic.
               After buying it I went home and started eating…and sure enough, it was a luxurious and decadent experience. I probably ate it so fast the ice cream never had the chance to melt. So here are my pros and cons;
PROS:
  •         great packaging (as I’ve said, it looked decadent and expensive)
  •         the bitterness of the Belgian chocolate coating blended well with the creamy vanilla ice cream filling
  •         I’m a vanilla ice cream junkie and the vanilla filling in the Magnum is by far the creamiest that I’ve tasted (it doesn’t melt immediately but rather swirls around in your mouth)
     CONS:
  •        Pricey (50.00 Php) which is not something that we can buy everyday (I’d buy it as a sort of reward to myself for a job well done or something like it)
  •        I’m not very fond of bitter chocolate so the Belgian coating was a little bit bitter for my taste

And that’s basically it! If you have tasted the Selecta Magnum ice cream, please do share if you agree or disagree with my review. Enjoy your sweet Saturday! J

      Thankful Thursday: A Loving Massage

This is my first time joining a weekly meme and frankly I am really having doubts about posting because when I looked at the blog posts that joined the Thankful Thursday meme, they were all about deep and profound things and mine is kind of..different, I guess? But I decided to gather up some courage and forged on because I am really thankful about this and I wanted to share that feeling to the rest of the world. (Or at the very least, to those who take the time to read my blog J Thank you for all your visits!) Ok, here goes.

I am very thankful for massages. I know, weird right? But I’m not talking about just any kind of massage. I’m talking about a loving massage--the kind given by someone who really wanted to take care of me.
Today was the start for ‘that’ time of the month and it is usually a very painful and stressful experience. I would be curled up into this pathetic little ball of misery but today was quite different. It was still quite painful yes, and I was still miserable BUT a loving massage did wonders for me.
Nowadays, massage and spa places offer affordable rates for relaxing massages and I know that they can really remove all those body aches and pains. But for me, nothing beats a home massage given by someone I love and someone who loves me and cares for me. Commercial massages soothes body aches and pains but a loving massage also soothes heart aches and pains. There is nothing more soothing and relaxing in the world than the feeling of knowing that someone cares for me and my well being and is taking the time to take care of me. No commercial massage can beat that.

      I'm So Cheezy!

I’m not a food critic. I just like eating good food. So I thought about sharing my thoughts on my gastronomic experiences. I’m actually writing this while I’m eating the food in question so as to make sure that I don’t forget the taste, lol. There has been a lot of hype on it on tv and the commercial looked mouthwatering so I decided to try out the new cheesy bacon pasta from KFC. So let’s get started shall we?
First off, the presentation doesn’t really give me a lasting impression. The whole thing is placed on a deep medium-sized bowl with large chunks of bacon (made from chicken by the way) covering the top, thus preventing us from seeing the pasta. Personally, I would have preferred they place it on a platter.
Next is the taste test. The chicken bacon is too salty! It overwhelmed the taste of the dish. Now granted the pasta is neutral tasting (I guess, hehe) there is still the saltiness in the cheese to account for so I felt like I was eating nothing but salt!
I am essentially a cheese-loving person so the cheese and the pasta I didn’t have any problems with. If only the chicken hadn’t been as salty, then it would have been a tastier dish.
So would I eat it again? No problem. If somebody else paid for it that is, hehe.. Hey, it’s bad to refuse free food right? But I wouldn’t really buy it again for myself.
How about you guys? Have you tasted KFC’s cheesy bacon pasta bowl yet?

      Philippines: Missile Target?!

My brother sent me a message via facebook saying that the Philippines was one of the target places for missile launches from North Korea! I was alarmed of course specially because the country doesn't have the technology to detect when and where the missiles would hit.
So of course I had to read about the article right away. When I finally got to read it, I was a little bit relieved. The article actually states that North Korea will be launching satellites into outer space and in order to do that they would need to use rockets or missiles to launch them. These rockets have boosters and it is estimated that some of the boosters will fall on Philippine territory.
Unfortunately, the country doesn't have the technology to predict where the rocket boosters will fall and the dangerous part about it is the possibility of it falling onto populated areas. However, according to the article, the country will be asking for help from its allies like the United States to help in predicting the location.
Still, I kept thinking, the country responsible for launching the rockets or missiles should be the one to clean up after themselves right?
